Spring empirically arrived when the first thunderstorms of the year appeared this afternoon prompting tornado warnings and high wind watches. At times the air turned dark with hard rain. At times lightning darted across the sky searching. At times hail stones clustered in grass. Out the back window we watched as a cloud line slowly moved to obscure the pure blue of clear sky. The setting sun angled beams of light that tucked up under the vapors and painted them orange. I don't know if orange and blue is a good omen or a bad omen for the Illini in the Final Four, but if I still took photographs those photons would be on film.
